"Having a good network" is not just limited to people you know in a professional capacity. Your network also includes the friends and family who are supportive of your wants and dreams - and even the people you know just online. Any of them might be aware of someone who is hiring, and any of them who aren't related might be willing to give you a character-witness reference.
I'm glad talking to your school counselor helped. Maybe she could recommend a career guidance person who could offer you some more formal help, if that's what you'd be interested in?
*hugs* Keep holding on! And if you feel the urge to give up on it entirely, give yourself permission to "give up" and hide for one day - do pampering and restorative things for that one day to comfort yourself - and then get back in the fight. Those sorts of days helped me stay sane during my time between jobs.
